In the near future, Diablo 4 will introduce a "Welcome Back" booster for all players. This feature will automatically level a selected character to level 50, provide players with the option to choose from three different builds for each class, and equip them with a new set of gear. Additionally, it will unlock all Altars of Lilith for players who have not yet completed this task by exploring the game world.

Blizzard revealed this update during the latest Diablo 4 Campfire Chat, where they also discussed upcoming balance changes in the mid-Season 6 update and addressed questions from the community.

The "Welcome Back" boost will be available exclusively for characters on Diablo 4's Eternal (non-seasonal) realms, in response to the significant changes brought by the Season 4 Loot Reborn update and the more recent Vessel of Hatred expansion. These updates overhauled many aspects of the game, including loot, difficulty, leveling, and progression, which left players who hadn't played in a while with outdated gear and builds. To help these players catch up, Blizzard is offering a character boost: players who own the base game will receive one free boost, while those who own the Vessel of Hatred expansion will get two.

As Diablo community manager Adam Fletcher explained during the livestream, this boost is aimed at players who are returning in Season 6 and find their gear turned into "Legacy" status. "This gives them a way to recover some of that and immediately get back into it," Fletcher said.

Leveling to 50 and acquiring new gear isn't a time-consuming task in the current state of Diablo 4, but the boost is especially valuable for players who haven't yet completed the Altars of Lilith collection. When the game launched, players spent hours tracking down the 160 Altars scattered across the world to earn Renown and small stat boosts. Afterward, Blizzard made Altars of Lilith account-wide, meaning players only needed to complete the collection once. The new boost unlocks all the Altars for returning players who missed out on them previously.

In addition to the Welcome Back boost, Blizzard is planning a free trial for Diablo 4 that will allow players to try out the new Spiritborn class introduced in the Vessel of Hatred expansion. More details about the boost and the free trial will be shared in an official blog post later in the week.

During the livestream, Blizzard also acknowledged that the Spiritborn class is currently very overpowered and widely played—over 60% of players are using it. However, Blizzard confirmed they won't nerf the class until Season 7 in January. In the meantime, they will buff the original five classes to help balance the game.

In GameSpot's review of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, we noted that the expansion offers "a great entry point for lapsed Diablo 4 players" and successfully revitalizes the entire game, making it feel fresh again.
