The fourth season of Diablo 4 – Loot Reborn – is making some fundamental changes to both the Seasonal and Eternal Realms but is light on new content.

Diablo 4 Season of the Construct is winding down (a month later than planned!) as we prepare to head into a brand new season: Loot Reborn. As the name suggests, the highlight of Diablo 4 Season 4 is the overhauling of items: how you earn them, how you upgrade them, and how some of them work. It also feeds into the new systems, Tempering and Masterworking, which some PC players have already had a chance to try out along with the rest of the Season 4 updates in the Diablo 4 PTR.

A big bonus that comes with the itemisation changes in the upcoming season is that we'll have fewer item drops, but with an increased likelihood of them actually being something half decent, as opposed to junk clogging up your inventory. Loot Reborn indeed.

While that sounds great, in terms of new content, it's a bit thin on the ground, with just one new quest, which sees you take up arms alongside the mercenary company, Iron Wolves. That's a very brief overview of the incoming changes, but at a glance, outside of the systems overhaul, there's not a lot going on. Let's hope Activision Blizzard's plans for the battle pass are tantalising enough to give players a reason to create a new seasonal character and start grinding; because one new quest may not quite cut it.

Diablo 4 Season 4: release date

The Diablo 4 Season 4 release date is coming up fast, and kicks off on Tuesday, May 14. As for the Season 4 start time, it looks to be the usual 6pm BST / 1pm EDT / 10am PDT. Diablo 4 updates usually roll out in this time slot, and looking to Season 3, the start time was the same. Blizzard may not have confirmed the Diablo 4 Season 4 start time officially, but the updates have stuck to the same schedule so we don't expect any deviation unless Blizzard pipes up to say otherwise. The new battle pass also kicks in at 6pm BST / 1pm EDT / 10am PDT, which lends itself to Diablo 4 Season 4 start time we've arrived at.

Helltide Updates

Another focus for the season 4 update is the improvement of the Helltide event. Multiple events inspired by fan favorite mechanics from previous seasons are being added, like the Accursed Ritual to summon a new boss, the Blood Maiden, which works similar to Season 2's Blood Harvest.

Helltides now feature a threat mechanic, which spawns more enemies the higher threat you have. The event will also be available for World Tiers 1 and 2 moving forward.

The Pit of Artificers

A new pinnacle dungeon being introduced in this season is The Pit of Artificers. This closely resembles the Abattoir of Zir content that was released during Season 2 but with great changes and improvement based on player feedback.

The Pit consists of numerous tiers that will challenge your character and build as you progress. The rewards for conquering a Pit Dungeon will be tied to the new end game upgrade system called the Masterworks.

This will be Season 4's most challenging content, so take advantage of the itemization changes to be well prepared!
